It’ll be just the two of us: the 10-year-old schoolboy in my charge and his retirement-aged godfather playing “single mom.” I found a package of 2 smoked turkey drumsticks at the store: that’s going into the oven, and we’ll have roasted yams with (real!) butter, whole berry cranberry sauce, broccoli (his favorite), stuffing (from a box) and we’ll start carving up an 8 inch pumpkin pie and applying liberal doses of (canned) whipped cream. God is Good!

We are with the expat missionary community in Lima, Peru – we give thanks because God is so good – all the time, but above all for his Son, Crucified, Risen and Returning. I find that Thanksgiving is always more intense when overseas.

My husband and I are being joined by his 86 year old mother and our son and his wife and 3 daughters for an old fashioned New England Thanksgiving- with sausage-apple stuffing, winter squash, mashed rutabaga, turnip and cinnamon casserole, green bean casserole, and molded salad. We’ll enjoy pecan pie and pumpkin roll for dessert.

We are in Summerville, South Carolina, and have all five Harmons here, two home from College and one home from private school in Pennsylvania. We worshipped at Saint Paul’s, Summerville, this morning and are looking forward to family frolic today.

At home with Grandma (me), Grandfather, one grandchild, one son, and one DIL. The other 10 grandchildren are too far away.

At home with all three grown children + one daughter-in-law. Just found out we will be grandparents next year! Woohah!

We L2 spent it at home here in Lakeland, FL with my parents. A low stress day. I grilled steaks my dad rescued from their freezer and then we ate on the patio with it being just a bit too cool for us, but refusing to go inside because it was such a beautiful afternoon. It was a wonderful day in so many ways. I am blessed to still have both of my parents, 80 and 75 years young, whom I love dearly.
